ke7qlm (David) Pretty new ham, got interested after reading about volunteers helping out in the wake of flooding and other local disasters, I volunteer with the Shoreline ACS and am trying to get up to speed on packet and mobile operating, and all the more esoteric wonders of ham radio. No room for a ham shack, so I'm limited at the moment to a Kenwood TH-F6A HT and an Icom 207H in my car. I play Go, tinker with linux, and work as a network engineer.

Oskaloosa Swapmeet is Saturday, March 20th!

The Mahaska Hams will be hosting their 22nd Annual Amateur Radio
Swapmeet on Saturday, March 20th from 8:00am to 11:30am at the American
Legion Hall, 302 High Avenue East in Oskaloosa, Iowa. (One block South
of Highway 92 and one block East of the town square.) Admission is by
donation. Tables are just $5 each. For more information, contact Vern
    Stanley, N0SJF vstanley@iowatelecom.net or Donald Brain, KC0RRM
    donb@awsllc.net. Talk-In on 145.490 (-600 kHz offset, Tone 146.2)

I like this swapmeet because there’s plenty of parking and it’s easy to
load and unload. The atmosphere is cozy and very friendly. Last year
had a good crowd, a good turnout of people, but was very short of
equipment for sale. Although it is nice to see and visit with old
friends, and make some new ones, the purpose of the swapmeet is to buy
and sell equipment. I hope to see you there!

    kb0nmq (Mark) kb0nmq A ham radio thought

I wonder if we can post equipment for sale or trade here on this web site? There are many web sites that have that feature now. Not that this web site needs to have or host that, but this web site is fairly unique. Any thoughts?

kb0nmq (Mark) kb0nmq Looking ahead to spring!

I am not sure if winter where you live has been as long and snowy as it has been here. I am feeling like I need to get out doors with my radio and do some thing. I have some favorite places to operate. maybe tomorrow I will go check them out. Just to see what they look like. I have a tent, but really wish for some thing more like a small camping trailer to operate from. Most of the time I just operate from the tailgate of my SUV. With its rear hatch type door it works well. I can keep shady under the door and have a bug screen and a tarp to drape around me if needed. Its a fair set up.
But its raining now, sure to be freezing rain soon. More winter to come. I sould just hunker down here I guess and dig into my stack of logs that need attention. I have some real work to do in here. In November my mother board fried. I lost every QSO up till that point. (yes I have the hard drive. But the data seems to be missing?) However I had been smart.. I kept a paper log too!
Now to transfer that data..to my NEW computer. hey I have a new computer! ( I didn’t tell you?) OK I will just dig in and get it done. that said, I have been scanning my QSL cards that I recieve into a web page. That has been on hold and now, I have quite a stack to scan. But if you want to see my QSL cards go to www.kb0nmq.com I have nearly all of my cads posted ther. I have a few new ones to scan in. About 125!
Hey, I hope your having fun with ham radio! Where ever you are.

Jeff, thanks. It’s going to take dozens of little time consuming tasks to get everything in place. I just hope I get up my 6 and 2 yagis before the June VHF party.

Cool to travel with your rig though! Sounds like you had fun? ND was a tough one for me. If you still need ND try 8.925 daily in mid-late afternoons for the PICO net.
